SciFri Radio:Mars Rover to Rove No Longer

This week, NASA announced that Spirit, one of the twin Mars Exploration Rovers, appears to be permanently stuck in Martian soil, and that the rover would now be used only as a stationary observation platform.

Braddock Bay, on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, is a prime pit stop for migrating birds. In a converted hot dog stand near the Bay, ornithologists and volunteers capture, study and release about 10,000 migrants a year. David Bonter, ornithologist at Cornell Lab of Ornithology and vice president of Braddock Bay Bird Observatory, explains what can be learned from the songbirds.
